[edit] How do I earn datapoints?
There are several ways to earn DP (datapoints). First, each main web site you visit (not each page) generates 2 DP (they reset every 24 hours). Second, each time a person takes one of your missions for the first time you get 10 DP (retakes don’t count). Leaving a comment on the missions you take will also earn you two dp. You can increase your datapoint total by finding and looting crates full of datapoints, but these don’t count as "earned" (see below).
[edit] How is my association determined?
You don’t pick your association; it picks you. Associations are determined by tool use and by missions taken. Use the tool of an association (St. Nicks for Avengers, Armor for Bedouin, etc) frequently and you will be more likely to discover that this association has become yours. Take several missions created by association members and you may find you have become a member of that Association (missions created by association members are tagged with that association permanently, even if the creator later changes association). Your association remains permanently labile, although once your shoatish days are over, you can never be a shoat again.
[edit] How do I invite others to join?
After you have been a member for some indeterminate period (at least over a weekend) of time, you will see a new “invite” link in the menu that appears at the top of every pmog.com page. You can invite two new members a week (although sometimes a software glitch will let you invite more).
[edit] How does a lightpost work?
The Codex Pmogeus says that lightposts light up the dark places between websites. Actually, lightposts are totally invisible per se. They are simply a way of leaving a personal mark on a page so that you can later create a "mission" that links the marked pages together with little text messages appearing for other users on each page.
[edit] Why don’t St. Nicks appear in my toolbar?
The items on your toolbar can be left on individual pages. St. Nicks, however, attach to other players, not to pages. They are invisible. Each St. Nick prevents that user from dropping one mine (the St. Nick and the mine are destroyed in the process). You can deploy a St. Nick when you trip someone’s mine, or you can navigate to a user’s profile and attach a St. Nick using a button at the top of the profile page.
[edit] Why is my count of datapoints earnt less than the number of datapoints I have amassed?
Datapoints that you loot from a crate don't count toward the total earned towards a new level. Earned datapoints must be actually earned through browsing the web or creating enticing missions.
[edit] My toolbar isn’t working. What should I do?
Relax. Try restarting Firefox before running to the forums. Be patient. Try again later. PMOG is in beta testing.
It is changing rapidly and thus has frequent bugs, most of which are ironed out quickly. Remember that you are a beta tester; there are no guarantees that things will work smoothly for you, and you shouldn’t feel sorry for yourself if they do. If you discover a bug that doesn’t go away, you should report it on the Forums page of pmog.com or directly to one of the Gamelayers trustees.
[edit] How do I create a mission?
The simple answer is to go the missions page, click the appropriate link, and try to follow the instructions. Mission creation is a complex process, though, and it is best covered by the Consuetudo Missionaria.
[edit] Where are my queued missions?
Your queued missions are not listed on the mission page, they are only listed on your user page. At the bottom right of the page you will find a box with tabs for Taken, Generated, Drafts, Queued and Favorite missions.
[edit] I have earned the wrong badge!
This is a beta bug that occasionally crawls out of the pmogeon woodwork. Please log the error in the Misadventures forum.
